DeAnna Larkins

Early Life & Intuitive Awakening

Born on June 11, 1985, DeAnna was raised in Hacienda Heights, California. Her parents, Howard Elkin and Nanci Mersand, were both originally from the East Coast and relocated to California prior to her birth. DeAnna is the eldest child, with a younger sister, Marisa Elkin, born four years later.

DeAnna is the daughter of Dr. Howard Keith Elkin, a cardiologist widely respected for his holistic approach to medicine and emphasis on lifestyle-based healing. From the age of four, DeAnna demonstrated a heightened intuitive awareness. As a child, she frequently asked to be present in the room while her father met with patients. During these visits, she often felt compelled to share intuitive insights—sometimes before a patient had spoken a single word.

Working with Her Father

Recognizing his daughter's unusual sensitivity and insight, Dr. Elkin became deeply curious about her abilities and began exploring them alongside her. With her father's consent, and after asking patients if they were open to hearing DeAnna's insights, she was invited to speak. Patients consistently said yes.

DeAnna recalls one instance in which she said to a patient, "The reason you are experiencing aches in your heart and chest pain is because you just lost your husband, and you are holding so much sadness inside. You need to cry—let it out." Upon hearing this, the patient immediately began to cry, releasing long-held emotion.

Through experiences like these, DeAnna and her father together witnessed the profound impact of emotional expression and release on physical health. Their shared curiosity and deep bond inspired them to continue exploring the connection between emotion, intuition, and healing.

Early Healing Work

In her teenage years and early twenties, DeAnna felt called to carry this work forward in a larger way. She began working with her own clients—many of whom were referred by her father—and quickly developed a substantial client base. Many experienced rapid and sometimes remarkable results. These included carpal tunnel syndrome resolving within a week, cubital tunnel syndrome healing within two weeks, and severe daily migraines disappearing overnight. In some cases involving advanced, life-threatening illnesses such as stage-four cancer, clients experienced significant improvements after deeply rooted emotional trauma was identified and released.

At the core of DeAnna's work was spiritual and emotional healing—identifying the emotional root of disease and gently, yet intentionally, releasing it. Her approach focused on uncovering the origin of illness and allowing the body the opportunity to heal once emotional burdens were released.

Birth of Emerge

In 2012, DeAnna and her father developed a business plan to create a healing center called Emerge. After discussions with their Board of Directors, they agreed that the foundational philosophy of Emerge needed to be written first. From this vision, the Emerge Trilogy was born.

Recognition in Medical Community

As DeAnna continued to see powerful outcomes with her clients, the medical community began to take notice. Kelly Gallagher, a five-time cancer survivor, introduced DeAnna to physicians and medical professionals to share her insights. This led to connections with respected leaders in complementary and integrative medicine, including Dr. Lee Cowden and Dr. Garry Gordon.

These pioneers became familiar with DeAnna's core philosophy:

"If you can heal the emotions, you can heal the root—thus giving the physical disease a chance to heal, sometimes instantly."

The Academy of Complementary Integrative Medicine invited DeAnna Larkins to serve on its Board of Directors in the Department of Education. One of the organization's subsequent events, titled "Emotions: Healing the Root Cause," marked a turning point in her work with the medical community. From there, DeAnna began empowering physicians and practitioners to remember that many physical diseases originate from unresolved emotional experiences.

Writing the Trilogy

In 2015, DeAnna began writing the Emerge Healing Trilogy while continuing her role as a consultant to progressive medical doctors and health practitioners, emphasizing spiritual and emotional healing as essential components of true wellness.

In 2016, while pregnant with her first son, DeAnna completed the writing, editing, and illustration of the first book. During her second pregnancy in 2018, the second book was edited, formatted, and illustrated. In 2020, alongside her third pregnancy, the third and final book in the trilogy was completed.

That same year, DeAnna also developed the Emerge Training Courses, based on her deep understanding of emotional, mental, and physical disease. These courses provide a clear and practical pathway for individuals to identify, release, and prevent unresolved emotional patterns—allowing healing to occur at the root level through the practices taught in the books.

Current Work & Vision

DeAnna's next vision is the creation of the Emerge Healing Center and Retreats, offering a physical home for these teachings. The center will integrate raw living foods, hot yoga, breathwork, hot and cold therapies, nature immersion, and other healing modalities—cultivating a strong, heart-centered community of like-minded individuals committed to growth and healing.

DeAnna teaches the Emerge Master Training Course and Certification in Ashland, Oregon, and also offers online trainings worldwide.
